August: the Summer bank holiday
The Summer bank holiday in Northern Ireland is Monday 2 August 2027, the last Monday of August (same timing as England and Wales, not Scotland's early August date). Northern Ireland's extra days only help if your employer recognises them. St Patrick's Day and the Battle of the Boyne are on the GOV.UK Northern Ireland bank holiday list, but paid time off still comes from your contract. Statutory paid holiday is usually 28 days for a five-day week, and bank holidays can be counted inside that total (GOV.UK holiday entitlement).
Give notice of at least twice the leave you want, plus one day, unless your workplace sets its own booking rules (GOV.UK: booking time off).
