The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (Thursday 30 September 2027) and Thanksgiving (Monday 11 October 2027) are less than two weeks apart. If you get both off, the days in between join them into one long break:

Vacation rules in Canada
There is no single national rule. Most workers fall under the employment standards of their province or territory. Workers in federally regulated industries, such as banking, air transport and telecoms, fall under the Canada Labour Code.
- Federally regulated: at least two weeks of vacation after one year, three weeks after five years and four weeks after ten years (Canada Labour Code, section 184). The federal list of general holidays includes Boxing Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (section 166).
- Ontario: two weeks after each 12-month year, three weeks after five years, and vacation pay of 4% or 6% of wages. Vacation must be taken within 10 months of the year in which you earned it (Ontario Employment Standards: vacation).
- British Columbia: two weeks after 12 months and three weeks after five years (BC Employment Standards: vacation).
In Ontario, a public holiday that falls during your vacation stays a vacation day, but you get a substitute day off or public holiday pay for it, so you do not lose the holiday.
